What You Should Do If You Find Bed Bugs In Your Bed

Finding any bugs in your bed is something you don't want to have to deal with, but finding bed bugs in your bed is something completely different. These pests are not a pest you want to find in your bed. They can multiply quickly and can give you welts all over your body that can be very itchy. These pests can be found anywhere in your home, but if you have them in your bed, they can be especially terrible to have to exterminate from your home. If you have found bed bugs in your bed, there are things you can do to exterminate them. Read on for helpful information to use as a guide to get rid of these pests.

Strip Your Bed

Strip your bed completely and remove every bit of bedding. Wash all of the bedding in hot water in your washing machine, then dry it on the hottest setting your dryer will allow. Any pillows that cannot go into the washing machine should be placed in a plastic garbage bag, sealed tightly, and left for a few days to kill bed bugs that may be on the pillows. Your mattress may have bed bugs on it, so you should vacuum the mattress and the box spring. Remove the mattress from the box spring and vacuum beneath the mattress and box spring as well. Wipe down your headboard, footboard, and the rails of the bed, and be sure to vacuum beneath the bed as well. Take the contents of the vacuum outside to empty it, seal the garbage bag and toss it into the trash to prevent any living bed bugs from coming back inside your home.

Sprinkle Diatomaceous Earth

Sprinkle diatomaceous earth around your bed and around the bedroom to help kill any other bed bugs that may be in your carpeting or crawling around the rest of your room. These bugs can spread quickly and may already be in other parts of your home. The diatomaceous earth will dehydrate these pests and will kill them. It's safe to use in any part of your home. Use it in any room if you think you have these pests in other areas of your home.
