Keep Charlotte And Her Web Out Of Your Home: 3 Tips

Spiders are mostly harmless, but they can be a nuisance and give you the chills when one comes crawling across the room right in front of you while you sit on your couch. It's also an icky feeling to know that some spiders may be crawling across you at night and you have no idea it's happening. To help keep spiders out of your home, follow the tips below to help keep them away from you and your home.

1. Spray Peppermint

Peppermint is a natural repellent of spiders. They do not like the smell, and this can keep spiders away from your home. Create a spray using a few drops of a peppermint essential oil and water, then spray the baseboards of your home. You can also spray around the exterior perimeter of your home. The peppermint spray will also give your home a nice odor in addition to keeping spiders away. Planting peppermint outside of your home can also be an effective spider repellent. Plant this green plant around your patio or your home to help repel spiders outside as well.

2. Remove Overgrown Landscaping

Remove landscaping that is overgrown outside of your home where spiders may be present and living. Trees and bushes such as pine trees and fir trees or spruce trees can all be playing host to spiders. Other overgrown trees, bushes, and plants can also be housing spiders. Clip back this landscaping to help deplete the population of spiders and other pests. If you have overgrown landscaping, especially landscaping growing too close to your home or over your home, should be cut back and trimmed.

3. Remove Clutter Inside/Outside

Spiders like dark and damp places such as basements and crawl spaces, but they can be in the upper levels of your home as well. If you have a lot of clutter, it can be a perfect place for spiders. Remove clutter around your home and toss clutter outside of your home as well. Piles of wood or landscaping trash around your home are also a perfect place for pests such as spiders, so remove this clutter to prevent spiders and other pests from invading your space.
